Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television as well as theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer on her role on the Showtime series Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. Her birthplace and childhood was in Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as an infant, she showed an aptitude for acting and was awarded the Best Actress Award in the Maryland High School Competition. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria for seven years experienced a variety of trips and experiences in the world of culture at very young. After boarding school, over seven years London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she spent most of her youth and into early adulthood. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was given the role of lead. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with positive reviews. The production was recognized as the best production by Canadian critics. She was given the chance to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory, which allows only eight males and four woman to study traditional theatre. Contractor was ecstatically accepted. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season of plays was confirmed, and she received the role of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
